The co-op student will assist the ShawCrete team with general jobsite support and learn how a professional construction crew operates in the field. This placement is intended to introduce students to the fundamentals of construction work, workplace safety, organization, and teamwork on an active job site.

The student will support daily operations by helping maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Responsibilities may include general jobsite cleanup, organizing tools and materials, retrieving small materials or tools for crew members, and assisting with basic preparation tasks before and after concrete pours. Students may also help with measuring, staging materials, and observing different phases of concrete construction such as forming, base preparation, and finishing.

Throughout the placement, the student will be supervised by experienced crew members and will be taught the importance of safety procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment, and how to work efficiently and respectfully on a construction site. The goal is to give the student real-world exposure to the trades while building practical skills such as time management, communication, responsibility, and jobsite organization.

This placement provides an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry while learning what it takes to work safely and professionally as part of a small, hardworking team.
