Dear Community Leader,
The Government of Ontario and Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) are pleased to re-launch the Young Entrepreneurs, Make Your Pitch high school competition!
In case you are unaware, the Young Entrepreneurs, Make Your Pitch competition challenges Ontario students in Grades 9-12 to pitch their best business idea in a two-minute video. Students create and submit their videos through the competition website to determine 20 regional finalists from across Ontario. All finalists will receive a trip to Toronto and expert training, and will present their pitch at OCE’s Discovery conference hosted at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, April 29 – May 1, 2018.
Six competition winners will receive reserved entry into Summer Company to develop their business idea (worth up to $3,000 in start-up funding) where they will have access to networking, mentorship, the chance to connect with business owners from your local community, as well as further developmental opportunities. Last year the competition received 202 entries from high school students across Ontario, representing a variety of ideas – from a financial literacy app to a cow tail clipping service!
We value your organization’s role in inspiring young minds and are reaching out to you today for your help in spreading the word about this fantastic opportunity within your community. We also encourage you to incorporate the competition as part of your own youth programming, if applicable. Any support you can provide to help amplify our program outreach is more than appreciated.
Please find enclosed materials to help promote the competition in your school including a Backgrounder/FAQ, At-a-Glance summary, posters, and postcards. A digital copy of our resource guide is also available at www.makeyourpitch.ca. Please visit our website for full competition details and highlights from last year!
