OCT – A REVIEW OF THE CO-OP AQ GUIDELINESPOSTED: November 12, 2019

We are reaching out to you with a request from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT). The Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) are undertaking a review of the Cooperative Education AQ Guidelines, and would like our professional feedback on what we feel could be improved.

The Guidelines are holistic pedagogical frameworks (not curricular documents). They are not the courses that teachers take, but the conceptual framework for providers to use when creating a course.

The concepts are the same in each Part – it is just the emphasis that changes.  Part 1 has a focus on exploring and examining the pedagogical concepts. Part 2 has a focus on applying, developing and supporting the concepts and the Specialist has a focus on leadership (fostering and facilitating).

Since the concepts remain the same in each, it has been suggested that we just review Part 1, in order to save us time and energy.

It has also been suggested that we focus on Sections: B, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J, which are the concepts specific to the Co-op AQ.

I will be reviewing responses and passing them on to the College of Teachers by the end of November.

Thanking you in advance for your efforts to assist in improving Professional Development in Cooperative Education.

Sincerely,
